TIME: Refreshments, Membership sign-up and Bookstall from 7:15pm, talk begins at 7:30pm

ABOUT THE TALK: This talk will highlight some of the important palaeontological and archaeological discoveries which I have been involved with since I first came to Abu Dhabi in 1994. These include discovering important fossil specimens and animal trackways from the Baynunah Formation geological outcrop, at Shuwaihat, Ruwais, Umm Al-Ishtan and Mleisa, which date to between 6-8 million years ago. The earliest archaeological evidence for the first populations inhabiting Abu Dhabi dating to the Middle Palaeolithic between 35,000 - 200,000 years ago from Jebel Barakah. Details of life during the Neolithic period between 6-8,000 years ago on Marawah Island, Dalma Island, Baynunah and Umm az-Zamul. Finally, the discovery of the 7th-8th century Church and Monastery on Sir Bani Yas Island.
