The ENHG Research and Conservation Fund
- Each year the group sets aside money in the form of a fund to support research and conservation efforts in the fields of natural history and archaeology in the UAE.
- The fund is open to members and non-members and awards are made at the discretion of the committee.

2016
Dr. Ada Natoli
Support for a research project called ‘Dolphin Survey along Saadiyat coastline’, which is part of the UAE Dolphin Project. The Grant contributed to the purchase of basic equipment to enable a research survey of the dolphins frequenting Saadiyat Beach, as well as the printing of material for a public awareness campaign and volunteer training.

Joe Monks
Support for ‘Bee Community Structure in the Hajar Mountains, Oman: The Role of Altitude and Pollination Networks,’ which aimed to understand the process that determines the distribution of bees (Apoidea as a whole) along the entire elevational gradient in the Hajars from sea level to the highest point. This was the first study of bees that has recorded their complete distribution within an arid mountain ecosystem. The grant contributed to food and equipment for a one-month stay in Oman.
2014
Rima Jabado
Support for an initiative as part of the Gulf Elasmo Project, called ‘Your eyes on Elasmos: A Citizen Science Initiative’. The Grant contributed towards running the project website, creating leaflets, posters, and shark/ray identification sheets, as well as travel and accommodation costs when undertaking workshops in Sir Bani Yas, Dibba and Fujeirah.
Rima also received a grant in 2011, which contributed to dart tags and longline fishing equipment for a mark-recapture study of shark stocks, parallel to fish market surveys.

Support for the study of Optical Stimulated Luminescence analysis of old lake sediment samples to Establish a chronology for Late Holocene climate and environmental change from Mleiha, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

Purchase and shipping of a fire proof, pest proof and water proof cabinet, for curation of Joint Al Ain and Abu Dhabi Arthropod Collection
David Stanton
On behalf of the Foundation for the Protection of the Arabian Leopard in Yemen, the grant supported jarge Mammal Monitoring in the Hawf Protected Area, Al Mahrah, Eastern Yemen.
This was the third ENHG grant to FPALY (This one also included FEW – Foundation for Endangered Wildlife – allied with FPALY).

A study of the herding and ranging behaviours of Arabia’s early domesticated dromedaries through Strontium Isotope and Oxygen Isotope analysis of the tooth of an Iron Age domesticated camel from Muwailah, Sharjah.

Foundation for the Protection of the Arabian Leopard in Yemen
Further training in Oman for two additional Yemeni conservationists and a series of conservation workshops for locals in six separate sites in leopard territory in Yemen.

Foundation for the Protection of the Arabian Leopard in Yemen
Support for one week workshop in leopard conservation at conservation center in Dhofar, Oman for seven Yemeni volunteers.
