ABOUT THE TALK:

Athol Yates will talk about his latest Tribulus article which describes the little-known, large scale 1943–1944 anti-locust campaign in the Arabian Peninsula, with a focus on activities in the Trucial States. It concludes with a summary of British military involvement in Trucial State antilocust operations in subsequent years, with the last recorded instance being in 1962.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Dr Athol Yates teaches at the Institute for International and Civil Security, Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, which offers a Masters Degree for Emirati security professionals. He teaches civil security, covering professional security practice, internal security and disaster management. His current research is on the security services of the UAE and former Trucial States.
